Update from the CEO
On Saturday 19th June, Wollongong Private Hospital have received notification that a doctor has been exposed within the last 24hrs to a confirmed positive case of COVID-19 in their private practice. Subsequently the Public Health Unit has identified them as a close contact.
This doctor has since tested negative and is continuing their period of self-isolation for 14 days.
Unfortunately, this doctor was only made aware of exposure to a COVID positive case after they had visited the birthing suites of the Hospital.
All identified close contacts of the doctor, including staff and patients have also tested negative.
As a precaution, we have undertaken deep cleaning of the identified birth suites.
Oher precautions currently in place include:
- All staff and doctors are to wear masks at all times whilst in the Hospital;
- All visitors must wear masks at all times whilst in the Hospital;
- Patients to wear masks when in public areas of the Hospital (outside patient rooms).
The safety of our staff, patients and visitors remains our priority.
