On the ward, our orthopaedic physiotherapists provide an early involvement to assist patients to regain movement, strength and independence following injury or surgery. The team's priority is your recovery and safe discharge to a Ramsay rehabilitation hospital or home.

They work in partnership with the doctors and nurses to provide personal care to facilitate optimal recovery. This may include; exercises, prescription of walking aids, gait re-education, education on slings and braces and advice on do's and don'ts.

The Wollongong Private Hospital physiotherapy department runs a weekly joint clinic education program for hip and knee replacement patients providing further education about the surgery and recovery.

Following your surgery, you may need ongoing physiotherapy and support prior to returning home. For this, Ramsay Health Care’s local rehabilitation hospital, Figtree Private Hospital, is well-equipped to assist you in achieving your individual goals.

Figtree Private Hospital is a newly redeveloped facility providing inpatient rehabilitation programs for Orthopaedic patients, should you require the additional support of nursing care through your recovery.

Rehabilitation will be discussed with you during your hospital stay at Wollongong Private Hospital and if required you will be visited by the Discharge Planner who will be able to provide you detailed information.
