Wollongong Private Hospital provides a full offering of medical, surgical and maternity services to residents of the Illawarra and South Coast. Our range of clinical services are supported by comprehensive support services including onsite diagnostic facilities, retail pharmacy, allied health, rehabilitation and specialist medical consulting suites.

Wollongong Private Hospital’s brand new purpose-designed building sets the benchmark in private health care facilities in the Illawarra. The 171 bed facility includes 10 state of the art operating theatres, angiography suite, day surgery unit, 10 bed intensive care unit, 6 coronary care beds, 8 chair day oncology ward, 25 bed maternity unit, and a 6 cot low dependency special care nursery. All patient rooms are well-appointed with ensuite facilities, television, telephones and sweeping views of the ocean or escarpment.

Operating Theatres

An extensive range of surgical services are offered at Wollongong Private Hospital. We have 10 spacious and fully equipped operating theatres with the latest medical and surgical technology. Our highly trained operating theatre staff work as a team to provide ongoing care peri and post operatively to secure a successful outcome for our patients.

Angiography Suite

The Angiography Suite provides diagnostic and interventional cardiology and endovascular procedures. These include angiograms, balloon angioplasty and stents to the coronary and peripheral vascular system, endograft repair of aortic aneurysms and radiofrequency ablation of varicose veins.

Day Surgery - Ramsay Surgical Centre

The Ramsay Surgical Centre at Wollongong Private Hospital provides a friendly, caring and comfortable environment for medical procedures, operations and tests that don't require an overnight or extended stay.

From the warm welcome you'll receive from our concierge, right through to the modern design of the rooms with their amazing views to the ocean, while you're with us we'll do everything we can to make your stay comfortable.

Intensive Care Unit

Wollongong Private Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a state of the art 10 bed combined Intensive Care and High Dependency unit. The friendly team strive to provide the very best of medical and nursing care both in the ICU and via emergency response throughout the Hospital. We are equipped for short-term ventilation and cardiac monitoring of patients with a variety of medical and surgical problems. The ICU receives patients from the operating theatres, wards and other hospitals.

Surgical Wards (4 South & 4 North)

Located on level 4 of Wollongong Private Hospital, the Surgical wards, 4 South and 4 North, provide expert care for patients pre and post surgery. There are 55 beds all with ensuites, televisions and bedside phones. Each room is equipped with the innovative Video Nurse Call system that allows nursing staff to response to patient needs faster than ever before.

Educational sessions are provided to patients who are undergoing certain types of surgery, such as joint replacement surgery and colorectal surgery. Our experienced staff will provide you with the information required and care that is needed to get you back on the road to recovery following surgery.

Medical Ward (3 South)

Located in the southern side of Level 3, 3 South provides expert care for non-surgical patients. There are 31 medical beds all with ensuites, televisions, phones and access to the Video Nurse Call system.

3 South ward specialises in palliative care, ensuring that all of our palliative patients are provided dignity and comfort as they approach the end of their life. Families are encouraged to participate where possible in discussions about care, treatments, medications and any other issues.

Cardiothoracic Ward (3 North) & Coronary Care Unit

Located in the northern end of Level 3, the cardiothoracic ward provides expert care for patients who have undergone or about to undergo coronary or vascular angiography procedures. From July 2016, the ward will also provide care for patients who have undergone Cardiothoracic surgery.

There are 24 beds each with ensuites, televisions, phones and serviced by the hospital-wide Video Nurse Call system. Six beds are cardiac monitored to ensure that the patient’s condition is observed at all times pre and post coronary angiography procedures.

Maternity Ward

Level 2 is home to Wollongong Private Hospital’s Maternity Unit. Our experienced team of midwives provide expert care for expectant families. The brand new maternity unit features four birthing suites, luxurious accommodation, special care nursery, breastfeeding room and education facilities.

Day Oncology Ward

Wollongong Private Hospital provides a 6 chair, 2 bed cancer care service with specialist nursing support services to assist patients to cope with their treatment and post treatment needs. A collaborative approach amongst nursing and medical staff is fostered to provide exceptional standards of care in a supportive and friendly environment.
