Birthing Suite

The Birthing Suite has four fully equipped birthing rooms, each with large ensuite including double shower facilities. The large modern rooms ensure a personal and safe environment for your birthing experience.

Maternity Ward

Wollongong Private Maternity Ward consists of 21 single rooms and two twin share rooms. All rooms have ensuite facilities, television and telephones. Whilst we make every endeavour to provide you with your accommodation preference, please understand that in circumstances of high activity or emergency admissions, it may be necessary to offer you a shared room. The ward’s larger suites featured below are offered if available at the time of your time of admission.

Newborn babies need to maintain maternal contact. Separation may cause some babies to become very unsettled and therefore, rooming in with your baby is encouraged to promote breastfeeding and infant bonding. However, placing your baby in the nursery at night may be arranged if required.

The nursery is typically available from approximately 11:30pm and closes before 6am. There is a limit on the number of babies in the nursery at any one time and it is expected that the babies will return to their mother for feeding. Please note, for safety reasons this service may not be available every evening. Please check with your midwife if the nursery is open.

Special Care Nursery

Wollongong Private Hospital provides you with the reassurance that should your baby require specialised care and observation, our Special Care Nursery is available. Our nursery is a six bed, low dependency unit for the treatment of premature and unwell babies.

We aim to provide family centred care to you and your baby during your stay and encourage you to participate as much as possible in the care and management of your baby should it need to be admitted to the Nursery. Nursery staff will support and guide you in providing this care.
