Dr Berkemeier's interests include preventative health care, cervical screening and colposcopy, minimally invasive surgery (including laparoscopic hysterectomy), vulvovaginal disorders and the management of menstrual disorders and pelvic pain.

Dr Sophie Berkemeier is an Obstetrician Gynaecologist with a passion for women’s health. Growing up in Sydney she attended the University of Sydney where she studied medicine, during which developed a keen interest in women’s health. Dr Berkemeier completed most of her speciality training in South Western Sydney at Liverpool and Campbelltown hospitals. Once she obtained her Fellowship she practiced as a consultant Obstetrician / Gynaecologist in Northern NSW, then later the Macarthur region. She now lives and practises in the Illawarra.

Sophie practises women centred, evidence-based, holistic medical care. Her professional interests include preventative health care, cervical screening and colposcopy, minimally invasive surgery (including laparoscopic hysterectomy), vulvovaginal disorders and the management of menstrual disorders and pelvic pain. Sophie also has a passion for teaching as is actively involved in training and supervising of junior doctors. Since completing her medical degree in 2009 she has been actively involved in the education and mentoring of medical students and junior doctors, enjoying this aspect of her job immensely.

Sophie also loves travelling, cycling, reading about medical and modern history and spending time with her young daughters. She is married to a Veterinarian and hence they have a home filled with many creatures great and small.
