Wollongong Private Hospital specialist David Huber

Dr David Huber

MBBS, FRACS, DDU (Vasc)

Dr David Huber is an experienced vascular surgeon with interest in venous disease. This includes treatment of varicose veins, venous ulcers, deep and superficial venous thrombosis and compression syndromes.

Dr Huber is the chairman and founder of the Department of Vascular Surgery in the Illawarra Health Area Service. He is the founder of the first dedicated endovascular suite in an operating theatre in Australia, located at The Wollongong Hospital. David was trained in Australia and at King’s College Hospital in the UK. He is on the executive of the Australian College of Phlebology.

David now focuses solely on venous disease and offers services in Wollongong, Nowra and Camden. This includes treatment of varicose veins, venous ulcers, deep and superficial venous thrombosis and, increasingly, compression syndromes. The treatment of venous disease has changed remarkably over the last 10 years, with laser, radiofrequency and glue. Stenting of compression syndrome is now an important modality with dedicated venous stents. This is important, particularly for management of recurrent venous disease, chronic venous insufficiency and pelvic congestion syndrome. Because there are many options available, it is important to involve the patient so that the treatment is personalised.
