COVID 19 News
NSW Health has advised that 16 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the state on Wednesday 23 June, triggering a range of new restrictions which can be found here. One of these individuals, who was unknowingly exposed to COVID-19, was not considered to be infectious when they visited Wollongong Private Hospital on Friday 18 June or Saturday 19 June.
The NSW Public Health Unit has advised that this individual has been in self-isolation for their infectious period. The person visited Wollongong Private Hospital shortly after being exposed to the virus but before becoming infectious.
The NSW Public Health Unit has therefore determined that the risk to hospital staff, patients and visitors is the same as for any other person in the Greater Sydney region. The hospital has not been classified as a venue of concern.
We will continue to support the individual concerned, bearing in mind the need to respect their privacy.
All our actions and robust protocols to protect the safety and wellbeing of our patients, staff and visitors are based on advice from the NSW Public Health Unit and NSW Health Clinical Excellence Guidelines.
The hospital will continue to provide updates to patients, staff and the community as more information becomes available. We thank you for your support during this time.
