Dr Ulvi Budak is an Australian trained general surgeon trained in Upper gastrointestinal (GI) and bariatric surgery using laparoscopic and robotic techniques. He completed his postgraduate general surgical training in South Western Sydney surgical rotations (1996-2000) including Liverpool, St Vincent’s and Wollongong Hospitals, and obtained his fellowship in 2000. His completed his post fellowship training in upper GI surgery and trauma surgery in 2003 and has been working locally within Wollongong and Shellharbour providing General/Upper GI and Bariatric surgery since this time.
Dr Budak's main interests are weight loss surgery (obesity surgery), benign and malignant oesophago-gastric surgery and laparoscopic surgery; including inguinal and incisional hernia surgery, gall bladder and anti-reflux surgery. He also offers gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
During his careeer, Dr Budak has performed over 5,000 laparoscopic procedures and more than 1,000 weight loss surgeries including revisional weight loss procedures. He works exclusively in the Illawarra and operating at The Wollongong and Shellharbour Public Hospitals and Wollongong Private Hospital.
