Dr Pearson has been practicing in the Illawarra since 2004 and is committed to providing the highest standard of care within his specialty.
Having completed his university degree with first class honours, Dr Pearson started his basic surgical training in 1996. His specialty training in surgery started with an accredited posting in surgical oncology with exposure to head and neck surgery in 1999. Subsequently he was accepted into specialty training in Otolaryngology encompassing ear, nose, throat, head and neck surgery. Having completed four years of the accredited training and successfully passing the final exams, Dr Pearson secured a subspecialty fellowship in advanced head and neck, thyroid and reconstructive surgery in the internationally recognised unit in Auckland City Hospital.
Dr Pearson has public and private hospital appointments across the Illawarra. He is a visiting medical officer with operating lists at Wollongong Hospital. One of his responsibilities within the public system is to mentor and supervise the junior surgeons accredited to train in his specialties. Dr Pearson also chairs the thyroid / parathyroid multidisciplinary meetings held fortnightly in Wollongong hospital. His private appointments include regular operating sessions at Wollongong Private Hospital. He is an invited lecturer at the University of Wollongong Graduate School of Medicine.
Dr Pearson’s clinical experience covers the general areas of ear, nose, throat, head and neck surgery. This includes both paediatric and adult conditions. He has subspecialty training in major head and neck surgical procedures, including the management of both benign and malignant diseases. His particular interests include thyroid, parathyroid, parotid gland surgery and trans-oral robotic surgery.
He is passionate about bringing the most current methods of treatment to the Illawarra.
