Dr Takako Eva Yabe is a Consultant Surgeon at Wollongong Public and Private Hospitals. She is a general surgeon with advanced training in head and neck surgery. Her primary focus includes thyroid, parathyroid, salivary gland, advanced craniofacial, and skin cancer surgery and reconstruction.
Eva was initially a physiotherapist and then studied medicine at the University of Wollongong. She was accepted into general surgical training, which she completed in 2019. She was the Head and Neck Fellow at Wollongong Hospital under the mentorship of Dr Bruce Ashford and Dr James Wykes. Eva is delighted to return to Wollongong following her role as the reconstructive microsurgery Fellow at the prestigious St George’s Hospital in southwest London.
Eva has a strong track record of research, currently completing a Master's degree in Biostatistics and teaching and training medical students and junior doctors and surgeons. She is an integral member of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Head & Neck multidisciplinary cancer team focussed on providing patients and their families the best care. Beyond surgery, Eva has participated in overseas volunteer medical missions, including with the Mercy Ships and the Spiti Projects.
